STEM
The Foundation has funded nearly every STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)-related initiative piloted in the school district including updating equipment, professional development, new curricula, and facilities projects aimed at improving the school’s technology, engineering, math, and science offerings. Bronx River Research, which began as a Foundation grant, has become an important part of the science curriculum with Elementary, Middle and High School classes walking over to the river to conduct research every year. Foundation grants have also funded several important sustainability initiatives including the food scrap recycling program, water bottle filling stations, recycling equipment, and student entrepreneurship initiatives focused on sustainability.
